We present a case of leprosy, an uncommon infection in the United Kingdom, which mimicked features of widely known rheumatic diseases and resulted in subsequent delay of diagnosis.

Prognostic Factors in Palindromic Rheumatism

Thirty-eight patients with palindromic rheumatism were reviewed. A questionnaire was compiled to elucidate prognostic factors in the pattern of disease. Palindromic rheumatism and Felty's syndrome.

The coexistence of palindromic rheumatism and Felty's syndrome in a single patient is described. It is likely that these two manifestations are linked with the patient's possession of HLA-DR4 and that they are prodromata of the patient's eventual development of rheumatoid arthritis.

Acute intermittent porphyria: an unusual cause of malignant hypertension.

Hypertension is a rare complication of acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) and is related to the sympathetic over-activity seen in this condition. We report a patient with AIP with malignant hypertension that recurred with a subsequent episode. Mechanisms of hypertension and renal damage are discussed.
